Behavior
All players are expected to conduct themselves according to the Code of Conduct, and adhere to our club values of UNITE, PLAY, EXCEL.

Subscriptions
At the AGM, the club will set subscriptions for the season. Subs will be communicated to all players by email.

Discounts on subs will be given at the sole discretion of the board. Players can apply in advance for a discount on their subs if work, travel or study will prevent them from playing a full season.

Players who join the club part way through the season can also ask for (and receive) a discount.

Teams
The club will at all times attempt to match players to the team that best suits their ability. Factors such as player availability, and team balance will also be considered.

Players are encouraged to seek clarification if they are unhappy with the team they are selected for, and should expect to get a fair hearing (see the selection policy below).

Transfers
If a player wishes to transfer to another club inside the Northern Districts Cricket Association jurisdiction, they should raise this with the board. Transfers will be granted promptly, once details such as outstanding subs are settled.

Selection Policy (senior teams)

The purpose of the selection policy is to ensure that all senior club members understand the rules applied to selection for the senior teams.

The policy is intended to make the selection process transparent and fair to all players, regardless of level and time at the club.

Selectors.

The selection panel will be made up of four, with three members being responsible for each team. 

The panel will be made up of the three captains, plus a selection manager, appointed by the committee.  

It is the job of the manager to make sure that selection occurs in an organised fashion, and according to the selection policy.

In the event of a dispute, the final decision rests with the selection manager.

Selection Criteria

Players will be selected according to the following criteria:

Performance, actual and expected.

Results, contribution to team success.

Ability.

Past performance, for Star or another club.

Attitude

Availability, Attendance at training, contribution to team and club environment.

 

Board Input on Selection

The Board may direct the selectors not to consider a player for selection for one or any teams for the following reasons:

  • Non payment of fees.
  • Disciplinary Reasons.

Dispute

In the event that a player believes that they have been unfairly treated with regards to selection they should discuss the issue with the selection manager.

If the selection manager is not able to resolve the issue to the satisfaction of the player, then the player should ask the board to review the selection.

Logistics

Teams are to be selected on Thursday night. For two day games, preference is to be given to players who are available for both days.
