Our History
The club caters to social and competitive cricketers of all levels and is open to both students and community members.
The club was founded prior to World War I, before merging with Star Cricket Club in the early 1950s, and eventually aligning with Waikato University in 1982.

Timeline
2020 - Today: We have expanded our teams to include 4 juniors teams (2023), and are underway with our first senior womens team (end 2024).
2000 - 2019
1990 - 1999: Our club representative, Daniel Vettori was selected to represent NZ at age 17.
1980 - 1989: In 1982, Hamilton Star merged with the University Club, and our club name changed to Hamilton Star University Cricket Club.
1946 - 1979: After WWII, Hamilton merged with Star Cricket Club to be then named as Hamilton Star Cricket Club. This enabled us to have depth within our club.
1864 - 1945: Regular games throughout the summer season produced mixed results. However, the club proved popular so in the year 1900, we fielded two teams.
November 1864: Tired of travelling around (taking hours to get to games), a group of men from Hamilton decided to start their own team, to be called the Hamilton Cricket Club. 23rd November 1864. Harcourt Carter was chosen as president.

- 1881 article - September, Hamilton Cricket Club established Hamilton Cricket Association. in the 1890s, the Waikato Cricket Association was formed.
